There is nothing real anymore. Everything
is just some smart fake something.

These last few years quiet revolutions have completely shifted the everyday life of the city. Self service checkouts in every store. Bike pathways. Disc golf courses all around the country. Algorithms that control everything we do and think. E-scooters all around. Maybe the last quiet revolution is the silence that will linger over the marriage? Can disgusting people find their happiness again?

Þöglar byltingar (Quiet Revolutions) is an provocative one-act play about unhappy people reminiscing about their lives on their wedding day. We dive into and under the silence that characterizes their relationship, while their five year old child snoops around excited for the upcoming celebration. It premiered in Tjarnarbíó Theatre in the summer of 2024 as part of RVK Fringe Festival, and was performed again the following winter as part of Tvíhleypan, a theatre festival for shorter plays. It had originally been selected to be performed as part of Ungleikur 2021, a theatre festival with plays from 16-25 year old playwrights at The Reykjavík City Theatre.

Duration: 40 minutes.
